If you listen to what’s going on around you, sometimes you’re rewarded by hearing fabulous things. Some interesting, some scandalous and some delightfully funny.

My top two of all time are hearing some guy talking about who he was sitting beside at the Oscars (Rachel Weisz, the year she won best supporting actress since you ask), and the person telling their breakfast companion that the man from Del Monte had said yes. That probably only makes sense to people who were watching TV in the 1980s.

Today’s was at work.

“Why did you want to do this job?”

” I didn’t. I just wasn’t brainy enough to be a physio. I’d always wanted to be a physio. I guess I always wanted to massage footballers.”
